How this site is made
LAST REVIEWED 2026-08 · LIVING DOCUMENT
Most startup advice is written by content teams. This site is different: everything here was said out loud, by practitioners, in live working sessions with real founders asking real questions. Securities attorneys walking through actual term sheets. Fund GPs explaining how they actually decide. Operators who built and sold companies describing what worked, dated and in their own words.
We synthesized those conversations into playbooks. Each page answers one question a founder actually asks, in the order you’ll hit them.
How to read this site
Section titled “How to read this site”Every playbook has the same shape:
- TL;DR — the decision rule in a few lines. If you read nothing else, read this.
- The playbook — steps, decision tables, and benchmarks synthesized across sessions.
- From the room — verbatim quotes from the sessions, so you can hear how practitioners actually talk about it.
- Numbers — the concrete figures mentioned in the room: costs, equity bands, timelines.
How we handle sources
Section titled “How we handle sources”Quotes are real and verbatim, drawn from recorded sessions with the speakers’ approval. We identify speakers by role and experience rather than name — the point is the substance, not the name-drop. Published works, public data sources, and standard documents (YC’s SAFE, NVCA model docs, Carta benchmark data) are cited by name.
Every page carries a last reviewed date. Market norms move — SAFE caps, legal costs, immigration rules — so treat older pages as a starting point, not gospel.
Where this comes from
Section titled “Where this comes from”These sessions happen live inside FounderNexus, a selective peer community for venture-scale founders. The conversations continue every week; this site is the public distillation, and new sessions deepen these pages over time.
